Just imagine yourself cruising along surrounded by hundreds of classic cars. You are enjoying the beautiful fall colors, and waving at the people along the way, who stop and watch in awe as this fantastic parade goes by. Ahhhh, the thrill, even us old timers, who have been a part of it dozens of times, feel a shiver up our back—just to be there.
The "Cruise" is the most important part of The Cruise to the Woods,
it is what makes the show unique and so popular.
The cruise is made up of 9 separate cruise routes that merge together in the little town of Stratford, IA. Check out the Cruise Times & Places page for details on where you can join the cruise, the timetable and complimentary hosts who can answer your cruise route questions. There is also the map of the whole route.
If you don´t want to join the cruise, come on out to the show site and
watch the cruise come in. There are usually several hundred cars that skip the cruise (most have been on it many times before). A steady stream of cars trickle in from 9 am until the cruise enters at a little after noon. Those who come early, pull out their chairs, and watch the parade—a rainbow of colors pass by—every year, make and model of auto made from the 1920´s to brand new models. Some have just been pulled out of storage and others polished until they gleam. After parking, they head for the fastest registration around. Then off to the large variety of food concessions, before heading out to check out the cars, vendors and crafters. This year the door prizes will be awarded throughout the afternoon. Before they know it, the parade of winners is announced (note:we do not have classes, our members pick their favorite cars at the show. They aren't necessarily the best, just someone's favorite), followed by a warm send off by the WC Cruisers. |
