A LITTLE ABOUT US

Mike & I are the last members of the original 6 still in the club.  We have seen the cruise grow from 75 cars to over 1,500.  Our children, Heath & Rachel have grown up in the club and Heath has served as President  and chairman of the cruise several years and Rachel has been Secretary for the past 3 years.  It is fun to see the new generation enjoying the club and cars as much as we do.  These cars, the cruise & club are part of our family.

AND WHAT WE DO

Mike has lost 2 jobs in the past 6 years, due to plant closings and now is working for Motor Inn in Webster City, detailing cars (perfect job for him), plus he does lawn care and washing & waxing cars for people.  Gets tough  to find jobs when you hit 60.  I am secretary at Faith United Methodist Church in Webster City weekdays, then evenings & weekends work at the local Kmart, which I have done for the past 23 years.  We live in Webster City.

1931 Chevy Coupe

Picture

Our '31 Chevy was purchased in 1985 and we spent every evening for several months in the garage completing the engine work & putting int the interior.  Yes, women work on cars, my job was to do the upholstery and rewire it.  Mike did all the outside engine work.  We drove this "31 Chevy for many years, but it has now been handed over to our daughter, Rachel & son-in-law Tom to drive.  They are both working on it, trying to up-date it some.  Rachel grew up in this car and they love it as much as we do.

1955 Chevy Belair

The whole family has a love affair with the #31, but my husband has been head over heels in love with our ''55 since we purchased it the 70's.  She was at the very first Cruise to the Woods.  When we purchased the '31, I said we can only afford one car and was hounded for years for "making Mike sell it".  He tracked the car through a couple of other owners, then it came up for sale.  We had 2 other cars, but it was time for the '55 to come home where it will stay, until our son, Heath inherits it.  Three years ago a car left idling backed into the driver's side right behind the door.  Had a pretty good speed up and did a lot of damage.  Heath fixed it and repainted the car.  It looks great.

1957 Chevy Handyman

Picture
Our '57 Chevy Handyman Wagon started out as buy & sell, but it was me that fell in love with this car. I consider our '57 Chevy Wagon mine. In fact we changed the 3 speed to automatic so I could drive it. We bought this car in 2003. It has pulled our pop-up camper to Michigan and numerous times to Minnesota & southern Iowa.

BAR STOOL RACER

Picture
Mike has built several of these bar stool racers and loves tooling around at the cruise on it.  The first one he built he showed off at Back to the 50's and a man from Wisconsin chased him all over the fairgrounds to try and buy it.

Papa & Grandma made Layton his big boy bed with a toy box engine compartment.

It is a replica of our '55 Chevy.  Made out of plywood with specially designed decals for windows and trim.
